☻How To Enable Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) In Windows 10 Home Edition♠

One of the very main differences between Windows 10 Pro edition and Windows 10 Home edition is the networking management capabilities. The other differences include the exclusion of Group Policy Editor for Windows 10 Home Edition. In fact, the Group Policy Editor is not available in any Home or Starter edition of Windows, be it Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10.

This is a serious drawback as we need the group policies even for managing settings of the local computer. The group policy is better than changing the settings through Windows Registry which is much more risky. Most of the group policy settings can be reverted easily while Registry editing can have adverse effects on the system.

In this article, we will guide you to install the Group Policy Editor for Windows 10 Home edition. This method can be used in Windows 7 and Windows 8 too.

Installing gpedit.msc correctly

If you have 32-bit Windows (x86) then the setup should install smoothly without any problems and you should be able to access the Group Policy Editor through the Microsoft Management Console by going to Run –> gpedit.msc. But if you have 64-bit Windows (x64) then you will need some extra steps after running the installer. Follow the steps below after running the installer:

1. Go to C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder
2. Copy the following folders and files to C:\Windows\System32
   “GroupPolicy“, “GroupPolicyUsers” and gpedit.msc. 

 This will make sure that you can run the editor from the Run dialog.

Solving common problems running gpedit.msc

In case you are getting “MMC could not create the snap-in” error message while starting gpedit.msc, you may follow the steps below for the solution:

1. Go to C:\Windows\Temp\gpedit\ folder and make sure it exists.
2. Download the following zip file and unzip it to C:\Windows\Temp\gpedit\. This should replace two files x86.bat and x64.bat.

1. Enable or Disable USB Drives and Mass Storage Devices using Registry

2. Disable USB Ports from Device Manager

If you still don’t find your USB drive working, you may have to look into the Device Manager. The Administrator could have possibly disabled the USB port here. Check out for any possibility in the Device Manager and enable the disabled port by right clicking on selected one and click Enable.

☻ How to Setup a Local FTP Server in Windows 7☻

In Windows 7, you can share files on home network easily using Home Group but creating an FTP server gives you many benefits. The FTP can also be accessed by other Operating Systems in the network, You can also configure it to be accessed from anywhere through internet. In this short tutorial, I will guide you to make an FTP Server on Windows 7 for LAN.

If your IIS is already installed then start from step 4

Step 1

Open control panel  and then click on Programs.

Step 2
In Programs, click on Turn Windows features on or off.

Step 3

After clicking Turn Windows features on or off you will see a new window. Find Internet information Services and mark check on it and then click OK button.

Step  4

Open IIS Manager. Under connections, right click on sites and click Add FTP Site as shown in the screenshot.

Step 5

Write a name for your FTP site and select the path of folder you want to share.

Select the default IP address and select No SSL from SSL options.

I used these authentication settings shown in the screenshot, you can choose at will.

Click finish and you are done. You can now access this local FTP server from any other node of your local network. In my case the URL for the FTP is ftp://127.0.0.1

To do that you might be creating folder inside folder to hide such files but in todays tutorial i will change this by teaching you a interesting trick to hide files behind images.To hide a file behind a image  means that if any one opens that image he will see the image, but to see the hidden file we need to open that image in a specific 

How To Hide File Behind Image ?

In order to do this you should have basic understanding of command line.

1. Select an image to be used for hiding file behind the image.

2. Now select a file to hide behind the image and make it in .RAR format. With the help of the WinRAR.

3. And most important is that paste both the files on desktop. You may do this anywhere instead of desktop if you have some basic understanding of command line.

4. Now open cmd by going to Start > Accessories > Command Prompt and type following commands in it.

cd desktop


5. CD stands for change directory by typing above command you change your directory to desktop. After that type command given below.
Copy /b imagename.jpg + filename.rar finalimage.jpg 

• Replace imagename.jpg with the name of image you want your file to be hidden behind. Don’t forget to add image format (Eg: .jpg,.png,.gif)
• Replace filename with name of your file you want to hide. It must be in .rar format.
• Finally Replace finalimage.jpg with whatever name you want your final image with hidden files should be. This is the image where your file will be hidden.

6. Now when you will try to open this newly created image it will open as normal image, but to open you hidden file you need follow steps given below.

How To Access Hidden File ?

To access your hidden file you need to open the newly created image in winrar. Just follow simple steps given below to do that.

    1. Open winrar

2. Now locate your image and open it or simply drag your image in winrar.
3. Extract the file and done.
